Ligue Haitienne: Everything You Need to Know About This Soccer League

Must read

That Ligue Hatienne, oh boy, it’s somethin’ else. All them young fellas runnin’ around, kickin’ that ball. My old bones can barely keep up watchin’ ’em! They say it’s the top football thing in Haiti, that’s what they say. I don’t know what is Haiti, just know this is about football. And that Ligue Hatienne is their football thing.

Ligue Haitienne: Everything You Need to Know About This Soccer League

They got a whole bunch of teams, 18 of ’em, I hear! Can you believe it? 18 teams all chasin’ that ball. They call it a “league,” like some fancy club or somethin’. And there’s this “Haitian Football Federation,” sounds important, they’re the big bosses, I reckon. They are in charge of this Ligue Hatienne, I think. This “federation” sounds like a big deal.

Now, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout “promotion” and “relegation.” Sounds like a school thing. If you do good, you get promoted, like movin’ up a grade. If you do bad, you get relegated. Like, maybe they send you to a smaller field to play? I don’t know. And they said this Ligue Hatienne is the top grade. The best of the best are there.

  • 18 teams, they say!
  • They kick that ball real good.
  • “Haitian Football Federation” is the boss.

They got this thing split in two, someone told me. Don’t rightly know what that means. Maybe they play half the games in one place, half in another? Or maybe it’s like plantin’ season, you do half now, half later. Whatever it is, it sounds complicated. But all about that Ligue Hatienne. It must be important if they split it.

Saw some names the other day, “Arcahaie” somethin’. Sounded like a spell. They had numbers next to it, like 9, 3, 5, 20. Don’t know what they mean. Maybe how many times they kicked the ball in the net? Or how many chickens they got? Who knows! But this “Arcahaie” is part of that Ligue Hatienne, that’s for sure.

They keep track of who’s winnin’ and who’s losin’, of course. Got these “tables” they call ’em. Not like the one I eat supper on. These tables got all the teams listed, and who’s on top. It’s like a big scoreboard, I guess. And all for that Ligue Hatienne. Everybody wants to know who’s winning.

And they got “fixtures,” too. Sounds like somethin’ you’d fix on the farm. But these fixtures are when the games are gonna be. They plan ’em all out, so everyone knows when to watch. Keeps folks busy, I reckon, watchin’ all them Ligue Hatienne games.

They even keep track of who’s kickin’ the ball in the net the most! They call ’em “top scorers.” Like they’re the best at gettin’ that ball past the goalie. It’s a big deal, bein’ a top scorer in the Ligue Hatienne. Everyone wants to be the best.

There is this thing called “Scorevisit”. After each game, this “Scorevisit” thing will put information into a table, whatever it means. But people can see the results really fast. They said it can update schedule, too. This “Scorevisit” sounds useful for that Ligue Hatienne.

I heard this Ligue Hatienne is like, the big time. Some say it is top five, after some “Premier League” and “La Liga”, those must be some other leagues in other places. Sounds like this one is important. They say this Ligue Hatienne is the best in Haiti, no doubt about it.

  • They got “top scorers.”
  • “Fixtures” tell you when the games are.
  • It’s the best football in Haiti, they say.

They even show all the details of the game, I hear. Who kicked the ball, who got in trouble, everything! They write it all down, so everyone knows what happened in each Ligue Hatienne game. They call them “stats”, short for something I don’t understand. But they put the stats in their “tables”, along with goals and who did what.

Well, I reckon that’s all I know about that Ligue Hatienne. It’s a lot of runnin’ and kickin’, that’s for sure. Keeps them young folks busy, and gives us somethin’ to talk about. It’s their big football thing, and they sure do love it. This Ligue Hatienne sounds like a big deal in Haiti.
