Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with my KTM 690 Enduro R, trying to see just how fast this thing can go. It’s a beast of a bike, and I’ve always been curious about its top speed. So, I decided to put it to the test.

First off, I made sure the bike was in good shape. Checked the tires, oil, the usual stuff. You don’t want to push a machine to its limits without making sure it’s ready for it. Then, I geared up. Safety first, right? Helmet, jacket, gloves, boots – the whole nine yards. I even installed a Garmin GPS to get an accurate reading on speed, which is more accurate than the stock speedometer.
I found a long, straight stretch of road. It was pretty isolated, not much traffic, which is exactly what you need for this kind of test. I started off slow, getting a feel for the bike, gradually increasing the speed. The 690 Enduro R has this 693cc single-cylinder engine, and man, it’s got some kick. I could feel the power as I twisted the throttle.
As I pushed it harder, the bike responded well. It felt stable, even as the speedo climbed. I was hitting 80 mph, then 90 mph. The engine was roaring, but it wasn’t struggling. This is when the engine was around 8,000 RPM. It’s a six-speed, so I kept shifting up, pushing the limits.
- First run: I managed to hit around 105 mph. The GPS is reading at 107 mph, but the stock speedometer is showing 103 mph. Not bad, but I felt like it could do more.
- Second run: This time, I tucked in a bit more, trying to reduce wind resistance. I pushed it again, and I hit it, I saw 111 mph on the speedometer! The GPS was reading 116 mph. That’s more like it!
Honestly, it was exhilarating. Feeling the power of the bike, the wind rushing past, it’s an incredible experience. But, it’s also a reminder of how important it is to be responsible. This isn’t something to try on a crowded road or without the right gear.
My Thoughts
So, there you have it. The KTM 690 Enduro R, with its stock gearing and knobby tires, can hit speeds up to 116 mph according to the GPS, which is the same as 187 kph. It’s a powerful machine, and it’s definitely built for more than just off-road adventures. It handled the speed like a champ, and I’m pretty sure with a few tweaks, it could go even faster. But for now, I’m satisfied with this test. It’s always fun to push the limits and see what your machine can do!
