How I Tackled the Erick Pena Search Today
Okay, got my coffee strong this morning and sat down. Saw that name “Erick Pena” pop up somewhere again, kinda rings a bell. Thought, wait a minute, didn’t he sign for the Royals? But then… where is he actually playing right this second? Couldn’t remember at all, got bugged by that blank spot. So decided I gotta figure it out properly for my own peace of mind.

First, my lazy move: just shoved “erick pena milb” straight into the search box. Figured “milb” should keep it tied to the minors, right? Lots came back. Some headlines looked kinda old, though. You know how it is, pages stick around forever even if the info is ancient. Saw something saying “Royals prospect” and nodded, seemed right.
But where? Single-A, High-A, Double-A? Who knows! Needed the name of the team right now. Didn’t trust just any old headline date. Kept digging. Ended up clicking over to the official Minor League Baseball stats site – you know, the standard one. Slogged through their search thing. Found his player page finally. Scrolled down… stats, graphs, season history… finally hit the “Current Team Assignments” section. Bingo! Said he’s assigned to…
- Columbia Fireflies
Ah, okay. Had to double-check what level that was. Low-A ball for the Royals affiliate. Looked right.
But honestly, wasn’t 100% satisfied yet. Went over to the actual Columbia Fireflies roster page on MiLB. Scrolled… scrolled… found him! Listed plain as day as an outfielder. Made sense for him.
So that was the process. Started with a super vague question in my head (“Where?”), did the easy search, hit outdated junk, pushed through to the official stats, found the current assignment on the team page, confirmed it on the actual team site, saw his position listed clearly too. Mission accomplished! Now I know for next time someone asks. Simple really, once you dig past the clutter.
