Alright let’s talk about those Lethal Company console commands. I kept dying to this stupid damn coil-head thing, right? Seriously annoying. Couldn’t figure out how to deal with it, ended up wasting like 30 minutes just trying to escape one crawling bug. Total pain. Figured there had to be a better way. Heard whispers about commands.
My Dumb First Try
No clue where to start. Hit ESC, looked around the menu screen. Nothin’. Just the usual buttons to quit or go back. Tried pressing random keys like tilde (~) or F1 because other games use those. Absolutely nothing happened. Annoyed as crap. Alt-tabbed to my browser, typed ‘how to open console lethal company’. Found some forums, but folks just talked about commands, not how to actually use them. Got frustrated, closed the game.
Actually Getting Somewhere
Came back later, still determined to kill that coil-head. Did another search, scrolled way down this time. Saw someone mention something super simple: “Press F8”. F8? Seriously? Didn’t see that anywhere obvious before. Felt kind of dumb. Loaded the game back up, spawned near the damn coil-head again.
Pressed F8. Bam! A little grey text box popped up at the bottom left of the screen. Like magic. Tiny box, kinda hard to see at first. Now what?
Testing Commands Like a Noob
Typed “help” into the box and hit Enter. Nothing happened. Huh? Tried “commands”. Still nothing. Okay, not that easy. Remembered that forum post talking about killing enemies. Typed “KILL”. Pressed Enter. Error message showed up: “Insufficient arguments”. Okay, so maybe it needs a target? Looked directly at the coil-head stalking me. Typed “KILL coil-head”. Pressed Enter.
Poof! That annoying metal head just vanished. Instantly. Gone. Felt so damn good! Could finally grab the loot it was guarding.
Tried a few others:
- PING: Typed it. Nothing seemed to happen at first. Then I saw little numbers popping up briefly on my screen – distances to teammates! Useful when we get split up.
- CREATURE: Typed “CREATURE spider”. A GIANT spider just spawned right on top of a teammate hiding behind a crate. Scared the hell out of him. Yeah, don’t do that unless you wanna troll, which is kinda mean.
- GO: Tried “GO to” but needed the exact destination name. Knew we landed at “Experimentation” that round. Typed “GO Experimentation” – teleported my character outside the main entrance instantly, avoiding some nasty hazards inside. Felt a little cheaty, but helpful for testing things.
What Actually Worked (And What Didn’t)
So it turns out hitting F8 really is the key for the basic commands. It doesn’t need the tilde or anything fancy. Just F8 during gameplay. Box pops up, you type the command. Case matters though! Typed “kill coil-head” once – didn’t work because I used lowercase ‘k’. Needs uppercase “KILL“.
Some commands need arguments right after, like “KILL coil-head”, or “CREATURE spider”. Others like “PING” just work alone. No spaces before the command word itself or it errors out. Got that wrong a few times.
Important! Most of these only seem to work if you’re the host. Tried “KILL coil-head” when joining a friend’s game. Command box appeared, typed it in, hit enter. Error message: “Only host can run this command”. So yeah, gotta be the one hosting for the fun stuff.
Honestly, knowing about “KILL [enemy type]” has saved my sanity dealing with those coil-heads and brackens while testing map layouts or learning the game. Beats constantly dying. Would’ve been nice if the game just told you the F8 thing upfront!
