So this morning I realized I really wanted to get in touch with Vardan Ghukasyan. You know, that artist guy making waves? Figured he’d be tough to reach, but hey, I’m stubborn. Grabbed my coffee, opened up the laptop, and just started poking around.
First thing I did was google his name like crazy. Spent way too long scrolling through pages and pages of links. Saw his art stuff, interviews, news articles… but no actual contact info was jumping out. Hit a wall pretty fast there. Just links to galleries showing his work or stuff talking about him.
Okay, fine. Switched gears. Fired up Instagram. Searched his handle – found his profile easy enough. Looked polished, lots of cool pictures of his paintings and sculptures. Scrolled down, checking captions, looking at bio links. Bio just pointed to his main website. Clicked that. His site looked slick, had his portfolio, exhibitions… still zero contact details. No email listed anywhere. Disappointing.
Time to Dig Deeper
Thought maybe LinkedIn could be the trick. Logged in, typed his name. Boom, there he was. Profile looked legit, had his art background, some career stuff. This felt promising! Looked everywhere on his profile… no “Connect” button anywhere. Huh. Figured maybe he only connects with people he knows? Or maybe he just doesn’t check it much. Hit another dead end.
Getting a Bit Desperate…
Started thinking sideways. Maybe contacting the galleries that represent him? Found a couple major ones listed online associated with his work. Tried finding email addresses or contact forms on their websites. Sent a couple of super polite, short emails introducing myself briefly and asking if they could pass along a message to Vardan or knew the best way to reach him directly. Waited… and waited…. Nothing seemed to stick. Crickets.
Then I remembered something: Exhibition openings! Looked up his upcoming shows. Found one in a big city happening next month. Marked it down on my calendar. This seems like the most realistic shot. Just show up where he might be. Maybe catch him in person? Feels a bit like hoping to win the lottery, but hey, it’s a plan C.
The “Aha” Moment
While drowning in Google results again, something finally clicked. Found an old interview from like a year ago on a smaller art blog. Buried near the end, the interviewer asked him something like, “How do people follow your work best?” His actual answer was pretty simple:
- Instagram DMs are sometimes read (eventually).
- Emailing his studio manager is the official way (managed to find THAT generic info on his website’s tiny “about” section I’d missed).
- Attending exhibitions is where you actually might meet him.
Felt both stupid and relieved. The answer was kinda in plain sight, just not how I’d expected. I’d assumed all “celebrities” have big public emails or agents. Turns out this dude operates differently.
What Actually Sort of Worked
So here’s the skinny based on my fumbling around:
- Don’t expect a direct email contact floating around. It ain’t there.
- LinkedIn? Forget it for connecting cold. His profile’s more like an online resume.
- Galleries are gatekeepers. Might pass a message, might not. Worth a shot but don’t hold your breath.
- The Studio Manager email listed deep on his website is probably your best bet for formal stuff. Sent one there, still waiting to hear back…
- Sending an Instagram DM feels like tossing a note into a black hole, but if it’s short and respectful, maybe? Did it yesterday, no response yet.
- Going to an opening is the nuclear option. Requires time and money, but it’s the only face-to-face shot. Planning for that.
Bottom line: Reaching someone like Vardan Ghukasyan isn’t impossible, but it ain’t easy either. It’s a spiderweb of replies and dead ends. Seems like persistence and using the official studio channel or catching him in person are the main paths, both kinda slow. Learned a lot about not making assumptions about how people connect! My approach was pretty ridiculous in hindsight.
