What stars were on NY Yankees roster 2013? Big names and stats listed!

Must read

So today I got this itch to remember the 2013 Yankees, you know? Suddenly started wondering who actually played for them that year. Had some names floating in my head, but couldn’t piece together the full picture. Grabbed my ancient notebook and pen right away – yeah, I still scribble stuff down.

Dusted off my laptop first. Honestly, my memory’s fuzzy for rosters that far back. Typed in “2013 New York Yankees roster” into the search bar. Just wanted the main guys, the faces you’d recognize. Results poured in quick. Scrolled past some news articles and went straight for the lineup details.

Flipping through virtual pages felt like digging through an attic. Saw names and went “Oh yeah, him!” and “Wait, was he really still there?” Started jotting down the big ones:

  • Derek Jeter: Captain himself! Only played… like 17 games? Crazy. Bad injury year.
  • Mariano Rivera: The GOAT closer! Final season. Saved 44 games. Legend stuff.
  • Andy Pettitte: Also hung ’em up after that year. Old guard saying goodbye.
  • Robinson Cano: Absolute beast back then. Hit over .300, slammed 27 homers.
  • CC Sabathia: Anchored the rotation, but man, that ERA was ugly (4.78!).

Kept scrolling. Oh man, totally forgot about Ichiro Suzuki! He was patrolling the outfield. And Vernon Wells? Huh, blocked that out. Remembered Travis Hafner hitting some dingers early on. Also saw Alex Rodriguez listed. Yeah… suspended later that year for the whole PED mess.

Checked pitching too. Hiroki Kuroda was solid again. David Robertson setting up for Mo. Saw Phil Hughes’ name and winced – dude got shelled. The bullpen had Boone Logan and Shawn Kelley. Names you don’t hear much anymore!

Finally flipped to my old notebook pages. My handwriting’s messy, but there they were! Scribbles about Mo’s farewell tour, Jeter’s ankle nightmare, Cano being unreal. Even wrote down Curtis Granderson missing most of the year broken and Mark Teixeira dealing with wrist junk. Man did this team have names, even if they finished 85-77 and missed the playoffs.

Left that notebook open on the table. Kinda wild seeing physical proof of tracking teams like this way back when. Always hits different than just clicking around online. Good little time capsule trip!
