Margarita Margo Recipe Easy Steps How to Make Perfect at Home

Must read

Today I thought, screw it, why not try making a legit Margarita at home? The bars charge way too much for these things, and honestly, I was bored watching cooking shows. Figured I’d jot down exactly how it went.

Gathering the Stuff

First thing – raided my kitchen. Needed:

  • Tequila (Dug out that bottle gathering dust)
  • Triple Sec (Yeah, that orange stuff)
  • Lime Juice (Bought a bag of limes, way cheaper than bottled)
  • Salt (Regular table salt – no fancy pink stuff)
  • Ice (Duh)
  • Something to shake it in (Used a dang thermos ’cause I lost my shaker)

Getting My Hands Dirty

Step 1: Salting the Glass Grabbed a small plate, dumped salt on it. Cut a lime wedge, ran it along the rim of my glasses – pressed ’em into the salt. Messy? Hell yes. Half the salt ended up on the counter. Gave it a decent coating though.

Step 2: Squeezing the Hell Outta Limes Chopped three limes in half, grabbed my tiny hand juicer. Squeezed like my life depended on it. Got about half a cup of juice. Seeds flew everywhere. My thumb felt kinda sore afterward, won’t lie.

Step 3: The Shake Down Plopped the thermos on the counter. Went:

  • 2 ounces Tequila (Eyeballed it – kinda poured heavy)
  • 1 ounce Triple Sec
  • 1 ounce Lime Juice (Used all that I just squeezed)

Crammed a bunch of ice cubes into the thermos – like, a whole tray. Screwed the lid on tight and shook it like I was mad at it. For a good 20 seconds. Liquid splashed everywhere inside, sounded promising.

Step 4: Pouring & Final Touch Grabbed one of my salt-rimmed glasses, filled it with fresh ice. Tipped the thermos over and poured that cloudy, frosty mix in. Slapped a lime wedge on the rim. Done.

The Good, The Bad, The Limey

Took a big sip. Wow. Hit the spot! Super cold, tangy as heck from the fresh lime, and you could taste the tequila kick but the Triple Sec smoothed it right out. Salt rim was perfect, made each sip taste kinda savoury too.

Was it perfect? Almost! Honestly, felt a little too strong on the tequila side – probably poured way more than 2 ounces. And squeezing those limes was a workout. But dang, sitting on my couch with a homemade Margarita? Felt pretty damn smug.

Way better than paying £15 at some bar. Messy? Yup. Worth it? Absolutely. Gonna do this every Friday now.
