Okay, so let me tell you about what I got into today with these Belmont scratches. You won’t believe the mess I found myself in.

I woke up this morning, thinking it was just another day to check out the horse races. I usually keep an eye on the updates, so I went to that Equibase site, you know, the one that’s supposed to be all official and up-to-date. Well, today it seemed like they were updating every few minutes. It said “Last Updated: November 3, 12:02 PM ET” when I first checked. But then I blinked, and boom, it was updated again.
I was trying to figure out what was going on with the races at Belmont Park. Turns out, there were some major scratches for Sunday. And let me tell you, it wasn’t just one or two horses. I saw that four horses were pulled out of Friday’s third race. Why? Get this – they weren’t given their Lasix, that anti-bleeding medication, on time. Can you believe that? In the big leagues like Belmont, and they messed up the timing for the meds!
Here’s where it gets even more annoying.
- I was clicking around, trying to get the latest changes, and every page I went to had different times for updates. One said “Updated: 6:04 PM ET,” another “3:09 PM ET,” and it was like this all over. How’s a guy supposed to know what’s really going on?
- Then there was this note saying, “Today’s Scratches information is updated throughout the day.” Well, no kidding! But it felt like a wild goose chase, trying to keep up.
The Real Deal with Belmont
I did some more digging because, at this point, I was just irritated and needed to know the real story. I found out that Belmont Park is also being called “Big A” by NYRA, I guess because they don’t like saying “Aqueduct.” I mean, what’s that about? It’s the same place, just a bit rougher, from what I hear.
And then there was this story about a horse named Sham. Apparently, he had a hairline fracture and needed surgery with screws and all that. It made me think about how these scratches can really change the whole game. One minute a horse is in, the next it’s out, and we’re all just scrambling to figure out the new odds.

So, that was my day—a total mess of updates and changes. It’s like, can we get some consistency here? I just wanted to know who was racing, and instead, I got a headache. Anyway, that’s my rant for the day. If you’re betting on horses, good luck, because it feels like a bit of a lottery with all these last-minute changes.
I decided it’s just not worth the trouble today. Maybe tomorrow will be better, but for now, I’m done with these Belmont scratches.
