My first brilliant move? Typed something like “footballers with January birthdays” into the good old search bar. Expected a neat list to just appear, like magic. Ha! Should’ve known better. What I actually got was a digital avalanche of… well, mostly junk. Endless fan forums with arguments from ten years ago, a few dodgy-looking sites that probably wanted to give my computer a virus, and those annoying slideshow articles – “10 January-Born Strikers YOU Forgot!” Honestly, the amount of digital garbage you have to wade through these days to find a simple answer is incredible. Wasted a good bit of time just closing tabs.
My “Strategy” – If You Can Even Call It That
Alright, I thought, time to be a bit less lazy. Random searching was clearly getting me nowhere fast. I figured I needed to aim for places that might actually care about, you know, facts. So, I tried a few different things:

- I also had a look at a few online football encyclopedias or more general biography sites. Some were okay, some looked like they hadn’t been updated since the dial-up era.
This whole process of sifting and digging, it actually reminded me of something else entirely. It was like that time I was desperately trying to find an old instruction manual for some obscure bit of IKEA furniture I’d inherited. I knew it existed online somewhere, but finding that one specific PDF? Hours. Just hours of scrolling through forums where other people were also looking for it, broken links, sites that looked like they were designed in 1998. You get that feeling of, “This information HAS to be here!” but it’s buried under layers of digital clutter. Anyway, after a fair bit of this focused clicking, I did start to see some names. Yeah, turns out there are indeed professional footballers born in January. Not a massive shocker, I guess. It wasn’t like I uncovered some secret society of January-born super-players. Just a normal distribution, probably. It’s funny, though, you see these players on TV, you know their stats, their clubs, but their birthday? Not something that usually crosses your mind.
I didn’t end up creating some master spreadsheet or anything. Wasn’t planning on throwing a combined birthday bash for them – can you imagine the logistics of that? Nightmare. But it was a decent little quest. Satisfied my curiosity, even if it took a bit more effort than I first thought. Just goes to show, even a simple question can lead you on a bit of a merry chase online. But hey, sometimes that’s half the fun of it, sifting through the noise to find what you’re looking for.
