Want to know the stats from nba all star 1980? Everything you want is here!

Must read

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a little project I recently dug into – reliving the 1980 NBA All-Star Game. Man, what a time to be a basketball fan!

First off, I started by trying to find a list of all the players who made it to the All-Star team that year. It wasn’t as easy as I thought! I mean, we’re talking about a game that happened way before I was even born. But after some digging around old websites and forums, I managed to piece together a pretty solid roster.

Here’s what I found out:

  • Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, that legend, was a no-brainer. He was selected for the All-Star team 10 times between the 1979-80 and 1988-89 seasons. He was picked in the 1979-80 season. Insane!
  • Then there’s Magic Johnson, the Lakers’ point guard. This guy was the heart of their team during their best years in the ’80s. His passes were something else.
  • In the 1980 All-Star game, the Eastern Conference All-Stars won the game, 144-136. That is amazing.
  • There’s LeBron James. His record is 20 NBA All-Star appearances. And, after captaining the East during NBA All-Star 2024 in Indianapolis, he and Kevin Durant are the only active NBA players with 14 or more All-Star appearances.
  • And we can’t forget about Michael Jordan. MVP, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Scoring Champion – the list goes on. In his prime, this guy was unstoppable.

Once I had the players down, I wanted to see some actual stats from the game. You know, like who scored the most, who got the most rebounds, that kind of stuff. I found this one website that had a pretty detailed box score for the 1980 All-Star Game, and it was like striking gold. It had everything I was looking for – scores by quarter, who played, and their individual stats.

I spent hours going through all this info, imagining what it must have been like to watch these guys play. They were the best of the best back then, and seeing their stats made me appreciate how great they were.

Putting It All Together

After gathering all this data, I thought, why not try to rank these players based on their performance in the 1980 season? I know, it’s kind of subjective, but I just went with my gut and what I’d read about them.

It was a fun little exercise, and it really made me feel connected to that era of basketball. Like I was some kind of sports historian or something, uncovering the past.

Anyways, I just wanted to share this little adventure with y’all. It’s crazy how much history is out there, just waiting to be explored. Maybe next, I’ll dive into the ’85 All-Star Game. Who knows what I’ll find! Peace out, everyone!
