Okay, so yesterday I hit up Tubac Golf Club in Arizona. Figured I’d share my experience since it was a pretty solid day on the course.

First off, getting there was a breeze. Drove down, easy parking, no hassle. The clubhouse looked pretty swanky, you know? Gave me a good first impression.
Checked in, and the staff were super friendly. Got my cart all set, and headed to the practice range. Needed to loosen up the swing after that drive. Hit a few buckets, felt okay, nothing special.
Then it was time to tee off on the Rancho course. Man, this course is beautiful. The views of the mountains are awesome. The fairways were in great shape, and the greens were fast but true. I usually slice my drives but surprisingly, I kept it pretty straight for the first few holes.
My short game, on the other hand, needed some work. Chipping around the greens was a struggle. I chunked a few, skulled a couple. Definitely cost me some strokes there.
The back nine was a bit tougher. The wind picked up, which made club selection tricky. Plus, I started to get tired. My focus started to fade, and the bogeys piled up.

But overall, I really enjoyed the round. The course layout was challenging but fair. The scenery was stunning, and the pace of play was good. Didn’t feel rushed at all.
Afterwards, I grabbed a beer and a burger at the clubhouse. The food was decent, and the beer was cold – exactly what I needed after a long day in the sun.
Here’s a quick rundown of my takeaways:
- The course is definitely worth playing if you’re in the area.
- Bring your A-game around the greens. Short game is key here.
- Stay hydrated, especially if you’re playing in the afternoon. That Arizona sun is no joke.
- Take some time to enjoy the scenery. It’s pretty amazing.
All in all, a solid day of golf. Would definitely go back to Tubac Golf Club again. Now, to work on those chips…
