Alright, so I got thinking about the Shell Houston Open the other day. You know how sometimes these tournament names stick in your head, but you’re fuzzy on the details? Yeah, that was me. I remembered watching it, or parts of it, over the years. Seemed like a pretty regular stop on the tour.

But then I realized, I didn’t actually know where it was played. Like, the specific course. Houston is a big place, right? Is it downtown? North? South? No idea. Just ‘Houston’ in my mental file.
Figuring it out
So, I did what I usually do when these things bug me – I decided to just look it up. Fired up the computer, typed it in. Went through a couple of results, trying to find the straight info.
Took a minute, sifting through some older stuff because tournament names and sponsors change, we all know how that goes. But I landed on the location they used for quite a while when it carried the Shell name.
Turns out the course was the Redstone Golf Club. Okay, name registered. But where is that?
The Actual Location
Did one more quick search for the club itself. Found it pretty easily. It’s located in Humble, Texas.

Makes sense, Humble is right there next to Houston. So, not exactly in the skyscrapers downtown, but in the Houston area. It’s always kinda satisfying to pin down these specifics.
So, summary of my little investigation:
- The tournament, when it was the Shell Houston Open, was played at Redstone Golf Club.
- That golf club is in Humble, Texas.
- Which is basically just outside of Houston.
There you have it. Just wanted to share what I found out during my little search. Cleared that one up for myself.
