Alright, buckle up, because I’m about to spill the beans on my “watch mecum live” adventure. It was a wild ride, let me tell ya.
It all started with me just poking around online, you know, the usual internet rabbit hole. I stumbled across this Mecum auction calendar. Now, I’m a sucker for classic cars, always have been. So I thought, “Hey, why not see if they’re streaming any of these auctions live?”
Turns out, they were! I went straight to the Mecum website, and after a little digging, found the live stream section. Score! I clicked on the “Watch Live” button, and bam, I was in.
The first thing I noticed was the crazy energy. The auctioneer was shouting prices like a madman, the crowd was buzzing, and the cars… oh man, the cars! They were rolling across the block one after another, each one more gorgeous than the last.
I saw a ’67 Mustang go for way more than I could ever afford, then a sweet ’57 Chevy Bel Air that practically made me drool. I even saw a tractor sell for like, fifty grand! Who knew?
The thing that really got me hooked was the commentary. There were these two guys, commentators I guess, who were just hilarious. They were cracking jokes, giving little history lessons about the cars, and generally making the whole experience way more entertaining. They were like the Statler and Waldorf of car auctions.
I ended up watching for hours. I learned about different models, different restoration techniques, and even some of the inside baseball of the classic car world. I felt like I was right there in the thick of it, even though I was just sitting on my couch in my pajamas.
Of course, I didn’t buy anything. My budget is more “used Toyota” than “vintage Ferrari.” But it was still a blast to watch. It was like a car show, a sporting event, and a comedy show all rolled into one.
I marked my calendar for the next Mecum auction. You know what? I think I am officially hooked, and that’s how I spent my day watching mecum live.
