Male with female hips: What does it mean?

Must read

Okay, let’s talk about this. It’s something I’ve actually spent some time dealing with, this whole thing about having, well, hips that seem wider than most guys’. It wasn’t really about wanting them, more about how they made everyday stuff kinda tricky, especially clothes.

Finding Pants Was a Nightmare

Seriously, finding pants that fit right used to drive me nuts. I’d go shopping, grab my usual waist size, and head to the fitting room. Nine times out of ten, it was the same story. If I got pants that fit my waist okay, they’d be super tight across the hips and butt. Like, uncomfortably tight, pulling weirdly.

So, the obvious next step was always to go up a waist size. Okay, fine. Now the hips might just about fit, maybe still a bit snug, but the waist would be huge! I’d have this big gap at the back, and the legs would often look way too baggy. It just looked sloppy, you know? Not the look I was going for.

Tried Everything, Almost

  • Different Cuts: I went through all the cuts. Slim fit? Forget it. Straight leg? Usually too tight on the hips. Relaxed fit? Better on the hips, but then the waist and legs were like a tent. Athletic fit sometimes worked better because they expect bigger thighs/seat, but it wasn’t always a guarantee.
  • Different Brands: I swear I tried dozens of brands. Some were slightly better than others, but nothing was consistently perfect off the rack. It felt like most pants were designed for guys with a straight-up-and-down build.
  • Stretchy Materials: Jeans or chinos with some stretch became my best friend for a while. They offered some forgiveness around the hips, which definitely helped with comfort. But they didn’t always solve the waist gap issue.

The Tailor Became My Friend

Eventually, I kind of gave up on finding the “perfect” pair off the shelf. What I started doing was finding pants that fit reasonably well in the hips and seat, even if the waist was a bit too big. Then, I just took them straight to a local tailor.

Getting the waist taken in made a huge difference. Yeah, it’s an extra step and costs a bit more money, but honestly, the frustration it saved me was worth it. Suddenly, I had pants that actually fit my body shape without looking ridiculous or feeling like I was about to rip a seam.

It sounds simple, but it was a real process of trial and error. Just accepting that my shape was a bit different and finding a practical workaround was the key. It wasn’t about changing my body, just figuring out how to dress the one I had in a way that felt comfortable and looked decent. So yeah, that’s my journey with the whole wider-hips-on-a-guy situation – mostly just a long, annoying quest for pants that fit.
