My Quest for an Aaron Gordon Ring: A Fan’s Chronicle
So, it all started when Aaron Gordon finally got his championship ring with the Nuggets. I was stoked for him! I mean, the dude deserves it. And seeing that thing sparkle… I knew I needed to find something to commemorate that moment. I wasn’t about to drop serious cash on a legit replica, that’s for sure.
First thing I did? Hit up the usual suspects: eBay, Etsy, all those online marketplaces. Searched every variation of “Aaron Gordon ring,” “Nuggets championship ring,” “AG ring replica” you can imagine. Found a bunch of stuff, mostly cheap-looking knockoffs or those commemorative fan rings which are… okay, but not the ring, ya know?
- Saw some cool pendants, but wasn’t feeling it.
- Tons of keychains. Nah.
- A couple of seriously overpriced “replicas.” Hard pass.
Then I thought, “Alright, gotta get creative.” I started digging into the actual design of the ring. The Nuggets released some high-res photos and videos. My plan? To find someone who could maybe 3D print a custom version, or even just a decent-looking stand-in. I even looked into trying to build it myself which I quickly abandoned after realizing how untalented I am.
Started looking around for 3D printing services in my area. Sent out a few inquiries with the ring images, asking for quotes. Most of them either ghosted me or gave me prices that were way too high. I was starting to get discouraged.
Then, I stumbled upon a local jeweler who did custom work. I figured it was a long shot, but I showed them the pictures of the ring. Turns out, the guy was a huge basketball fan! He was actually excited about the project.
We talked about materials, design, all that jazz. He said he couldn’t replicate it exactly (legally, and also because it would cost a fortune), but he could create something that captured the essence of the ring. He suggested using a similar metal, maybe some cubic zirconia instead of real diamonds, and focusing on the overall shape and design elements.
It took a few weeks, but he came through! It’s not a perfect replica, but it’s damn close. It’s got the Nuggets logo, the number “50” (for his dunk contest performances, because why not?), and some sparkly stones that catch the light just right. I even had him engrave “AG Champ” on the inside.
Honestly, I’m thrilled with it. It’s a cool piece of memorabilia, and it reminds me of that amazing Nuggets season. It was a fun little project, and it taught me a bit about the craftsmanship that goes into making these things. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter!
So yeah, that’s my Aaron Gordon ring story. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go admire my new bling.
