Next up, I started messing around with some power chords. Green Day’s songs are catchy as hell, but they’re also built on a foundation of simple, effective riffs. The “haha your dead” part was just a silly little chorus I came up with. It’s supposed to be ironic, like, “Yeah, you think you’re so important, but in the grand scheme of things, you’re just another nobody.” A bit harsh, maybe, but that’s the point, right?

Lessons learned? Don’t be afraid to be loud, be honest, and be yourself. And sometimes, a little bit of distortion can go a long way.
