The top two leagues, they’re run by some fancy group, the Portuguese Professional Football League. And those teams also get to play in the Portuguese League Cup. Lots of cups, lots of games. I used to watch them with my old man, but he is long gone. Anyway, I guess the love for football never ends.
The teams in this League Cup, they come from the two best leagues. The Primeira Liga, that’s the big one, and the liga pro b, the one we’re talkin’ ’bout. They used to call it Segunda Liga, which just means Second League. Simple, right?
This Year’s Games
This year, there’s a team, Tondela, they’re doin’ real good. They’re at the top of the liga pro b. Three points ahead of another team, Penafiel. It’s a close race. Everyone’s fightin’ to get to the top.
They got tables and all that, showin’ who’s winnin’ and who’s losin’. Lots of numbers, goals, corners, all that stuff. If you like that kinda thing, you can find it all somewhere, I suppose. But mostly, it is just fun to watch.
Other leagues
They got all sorts of leagues, not just in Portugal. They got U21 Premier League Division 1, Campionato Primavera 1, U19 Bundesliga. Whatever those are. Sounds important, though. There are many leagues I never heard of, like Liga 3 or Campeonato de Portugal Prio.
In the end
They got scores, and schedules, and results, all that stuff. You can find out who’s playin’ who, and when, and where. It’s all there if you want it. This liga pro b, it’s a big deal in Portugal. Lots of folks follow it. It ain’t the fanciest, but it’s good football. And that’s all that matters, right? Good, honest football. That’s what my old man always said. I guess he was right.
