Okay, so I’ve been seeing these Onyx motorcycles pop up all over my feeds, and I finally decided to dive in and see what all the hype was about. I didn’t really need a new project, but, you know, shiny things!
First, I spent a good chunk of the day just watching videos and reading reviews. Gotta get a feel for it, right? It looked pretty sick. I mean, the retro design, the powerful motor… I was getting hooked.
Research and Planning
After getting a basic understanding, I started digging into the specifics. Things like:
- Battery life – because nobody wants to get stranded.
- Top speed – just for curiosity’s sake, of course.
- Price – this one was important. Had to see if it fit the budget (sort of).
- Different Models-to see what Onyx all has to provide.
Turns out, there are a few different models, each with its own pros and cons. The RCR seemed to be the most popular, so I focused my attention there. I found some forums and online communities where people were sharing their experiences. Super helpful for getting the real scoop, not just the marketing stuff.
The Deep Dive (Getting My Hands Dirty)
Reading and watching is one thing, but I really wanted to see one in person. So, I started hunting around for local dealers or owners. I even checked some online marketplaces to see if anyone nearby was selling a used one. After a bit of searching, I found a guy a couple of towns over who was willing to let me check out his RCR. Score!
I drove over there on Saturday, and let me tell you, seeing it in person was a whole different experience. The build quality seemed solid, and it just looked cool. The owner was super chill and let me take it for a short spin around the block. Getting a feel for the acceleration and handling was awesome. It felt powerful, but not overwhelming. Definitely a step up from my old e-bike!
Making a Decision (or Not)
After the test ride, I was pretty much sold. But, I still needed to figure out the whole “budget” thing. And, of course, where to put it. My garage is already pretty packed. These are the practical problems they don’t show you in the cool videos!
I’m still working on those details, to be honest. I might need to sell a few things, do some garage Tetris, and maybe even eat ramen for a few weeks. But, I’m pretty sure an Onyx RCR is in my future. It’s just too tempting! Now it is time to compare more models and see what Onyx has to offer.
