Eh, this old lady ain’t no good with fancy words, but I sure do know a thing or two about that Holden car. My old man, bless his soul, he used to have one, a real beauty she was. That was a time, I tell ya! They don’t make ’em like that anymore. Nowadays you just buy junk on wheels.
Holden, that’s a name that brings back memories. Back in my day, everyone and their dog had a Holden. They were simple, tough, and you could fix ’em up yourself with a few tools and some elbow grease. Not like these newfangled things with all their computers and whatchamacallits.
That Holden Logo, What’s It Mean?
Now, that Holden, they got that picture, you know, the one with the lion. A lion holding a stone. I heard someone say it was some old story. Something about a lion and a wheel. Lion rolling some stone and that’s how people got the idea for a wheel. Sounds a bit daft to me, but who am I to say? They are the ones building the car, I just ride around in it. So, I don’t care much for the lion.
That EH Holden, that was a good one. Real popular, it was. They made ’em for a couple of years, I reckon, back in the sixties. My neighbor, had a blue one. Shiny thing, it was. He was always out there polishing it, every weekend. He sure loved that car. The engine was strong, I tell you what. It is the best thing in this car. I heard them folks saying it is a good engine. Maybe it is.
EH Holden, A Big Seller
They say this EH Holden was a real big seller for that Holden company. Sold a whole heap of ’em. You could get ’em in different shapes. That car, you know, the one with the seats in the back, that’s a sedan. They made those. They are so big you can put all your family in there. And all your friend and neighbors can get in this car, too.
If you got a Holden back then, you were doing alright. You know what I mean? My uncle used to say, “If your car is good, your life is good!” This is a good way to say. These days, folks seem to care more about how fancy their car looks than how well it runs. Back then, a car was a car. It got you from A to B, and that’s all that mattered. We used to get this car and go to the market. We bought a lot of things and this car can hold them all!
I remember one time, we were driving back from the market, and the road was real bumpy. We had all those vegetables, and chickens in the back. Well, that Holden, she just kept on going. Didn’t even flinch. Those new cars, they’d probably fall apart on a road like that. This car is like a tank, a real tank. You can hit anything with it, it will still be good.

Real Holden Parts
And if something did break, well, you could get Holden parts. Real Holden parts, not some cheap stuff. They were made good, those parts. Made to last. And they said these parts are good and guaranteed. I don’t know what is “guaranteed”. But I know if you get a real Holden part, your car will run good.
Now, I see these EH Holdens around sometimes. People fix ’em up, make ’em look all shiny and new. They’re worth a pretty penny now, I hear. More than when they were new, even. I heard some people say this car is a real showstopper. What is a showstopper? I don’t know. I just know this car is good. And that’s all I need to know. That’s crazy, ain’t it? Just goes to show, they don’t make things like they used to.
They say this Holden EH is special. Some of them are from New Zealand. I don’t know where is New Zealand. But I know they made good cars there. I’m not sure why this car is special. It is just a car to me. But I know some people love it very much. Maybe they have a good memory with this car like me.
Fixing Up That Old Holden
Some folks, they like to fix up their old Holdens. Put new engines in ’em, new carbies, whatever those are. Make ’em go faster, I guess. My old man, he never did that. He just kept it the way it was. Said it was good enough. Maybe he is right. If your car runs good, why change it? I never change anything in my house, because they are all good.
You can find these EH Holdens for sale, you know. I seen ’em online, on those computer things. Lots of money, they’re asking. But I guess if you really love ’em, it’s worth it. I saw them online and they are all over Australia. I don’t know where is Australia. But I know they have a lot of Holdens there.
