Okay, so “The Maxx Dallas”… I’d heard whispers about this place. Some kind of ultimate vintage and collectible store, supposedly. My buddy Mark wouldn’t shut up about it, so I figured, why not? Let’s see what the fuss is all about.

First thing I did was try to get a handle on what this place actually was. I mean, “The Maxx”? Sounds like a gym or a 90s nightclub. So I hit up the search engines, tried to find some info, hours, anything. I want the intel before I commit to a drive, you know?
I didn’t find much detail and info in the web, so I decided to drive to that place and check.
The Hunt Begins
It was a little difficult to find, tucked away. Definitely not on a main street. Parking was a bit of a free-for-all. I saw a few cars circling like sharks, so I just grabbed the first spot I could find, even if it was a bit of a hike.
Walking in, boom! It was like stepping into another dimension. I mean, the place was packed. Wall-to-wall stuff. Old toys, records, comics, clothes, you name it. It was sensory overload in the best way possible.
Digging for Treasure
My game plan was simple: start at one end and work my way through. No rush, just soak it all in. I figured the good stuff was probably hidden, so I started digging.

- First section: Toys. Lots of old action figures, some still in their boxes. Saw a few that I remember having as a kid – instant nostalgia trip.
- Next up: Records. Tons of vinyl. Everything from classic rock to obscure jazz. I flipped through a few crates, found a couple of old blues albums that caught my eye.
- Then came the clothes. Vintage t-shirts, leather jackets, some seriously funky stuff. Not really my style, but fun to look at.
Honestly, I spent a good couple of hours just wandering around. The place was a maze, but that was part of the charm. You never knew what you were going to find around the next corner.
The Score
I finally found some great old comics. It’s really good price so I got a few bag. I am really happy that I spent 3 hours driving to The Maxx.
All in all, “The Maxx Dallas” lived up to the hype, kind of. It was chaotic, overwhelming, and totally worth the trip. If you’re into vintage stuff, or just looking for a unique experience, check it out. Just be prepared to spend some time, and maybe bring a bigger car!
