Just dug up this old gem from my archives today – that 2015 FA Community Shield match between Arsenal and Chelsea. Felt like hopping in the time machine! You know me, always rewatching classics.
The Setup
So, I grabbed my laptop yesterday evening. Wasn’t feeling fancy, just wanted some vintage footy vibes. Remembered I had this one saved locally somewhere on my external drive. Took a few minutes hunting through folders marked “OLD MATCHES – DO NOT DELETE” (glad I kept ’em!). Fired it up – a solid 720p rip, nothing fancy, but hey, it works.
Digging Into the Action
Straight off, I remembered Walcott’s opener for Arsenal. Rewound that part like three times. Koscielny just pings it long up the field, Ox actually misses it completely… but Walcott? Man was zoom. Just bolted past Azpilicueta like he was standing still, then calmly slots it past Begovic. Cool as ice. That pace!
Then came the Chelsea response:
- Oscar clipped that free kick in, felt like slow motion watching Cahill’s header loop over Szczesny. Textbook.
- And Cazorla… oh, Santi! That free kick! Top corner. Just delicious. Rewound that one extra slow, watched the spin.
That Keeper Moment!
But the bit I really wanted to see again? Cech against his old Chelsea mates. Near the end, 1-1… Hazard comes bursting through. Nasty, low shot heading for the corner. Petr freakin’ Cech. Dived full stretch, like an elastic band snapping out. Got the strongest fingertips on it, swiped it away. WHAT A SAVE. You could see the Chelsea fans groaning even through my grainy footage. Pure class from the big man. Arsenal ended up winning on pens, but that save… man. Forgot how clutch it was.
Wrapping It Up
Finished the highlights feeling a bit nostalgic. Felt like a good excuse to clean up those folders a bit, maybe tag stuff better. Might need to upgrade some files. Anyway, fun little trip back. Still reckon that Cech save won Arsenal that shield as much as the goals did. Proper keeper performance. Right, time for a cuppa after that little blast from the past!
