I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout that 2004 BMW R1150R bike. Sounds like a real fancy thing. I don’t know much ’bout them motorcycles, but I heard some things, and I reckon I can tell ya what I know.

This Here’s a Big Bike, Ain’t It?
They say this 2004 BMW R1150R, it’s a big ol’ bike. Not like them little scooters. This one’s got some power, they say. 1130cc engine, I heard someone say once. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds big. And it has 95 horsepower too. It is like the horse pull the old cart. But this one’s got way more than one horse!
It’s got two cylinders. They are the boxer type. Like them punchin’ fellas, but I guess these just help the engine go. And this bike’s got six gears! Six! My old cart only had one, and that was just me tellin’ the mule to go faster. This one’s also got a “shaft final drive.” What does this mean? I guess it is good. They are all good words.
What Them Letters Mean?
Now, they got all these letters after the name. R, RT, GS, GT, and some others. What are those? I asked around.
- R means “Road” or “Roadster”
- GS means off-road. Can this bike go off the road?
- GT means Grand Tour. I guess you can take long trips on it.
- RT – I don’t know what it means, but I guess it’s good too.
Is This Bike Good or What?
Folks seem to like this bike. They say it’s good for long rides. You know, like when I used to ride my cart to the next town over. But this one’s probably a lot faster. They say it is cool lookin’, too. Like them fancy movie stars, but on two wheels. I saw a picture once, and it did look kinda shiny. Some people say it is “naked”. What does this mean? They say it looks like a “Monster”. I don’t think it’s scary, though. Maybe it just means it’s strong.
How Much Does It Cost?
Now, this is where it gets tricky. Bikes like this ain’t cheap, you know. I heard some folks say they saw some for sale. Prices are different, I guess. Depends on how old they are, how many miles they got on ’em. They said prices were like $3,350 to $5,000. That is a big number. A lot of money for a bike. But I guess if you want somethin’ fancy, you gotta pay for it.

Anythin’ Wrong with This Bike?
Well, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout problems they had. You know, like how my old cart’s wheel would sometimes come loose. These bikes can have problems, too. I don’t know much about the specifics, but it is good to ask people who know more about these things before you buy one. You don’t want to get stuck with a lemon, as they say.
Some folks who have this bike said they did the oil changes themselves. Said it was “easy cheezy.” I don’t know what that means, but I guess it’s not too hard to do. It’s probably like greasin’ the axles on my cart, but maybe a bit cleaner.
Should You Buy One?
I don’t know if you should buy one or not. That’s up to you. But if you’re lookin’ for a big, strong bike that’s good for long rides, this 2004 BMW R1150R might be worth lookin’ at. Just make sure you know what you’re gettin’ into. Ask around, learn about it, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. This is a lot of money, so make sure you are gettin’ a good one.
It has good power and people seem to like it a lot. The bike is good for long trips. You can even go off-road with it, if you get the GS type. I don’t know much else about these things, but if you like that kind of stuff, this might be for you. But I reckon you should be careful with it.
This bike is “effortless” and “without fuss”, whatever that means. Sounds good to me. Just remember what I said. And be safe out there on the road!
