Okay, so today I decided to tackle this “200 lb guy” workout thing. I’m not exactly 200 pounds, I’m a bit… heavier, let’s just say. But I figured, hey, it’s a starting point, right?
First thing I did was, well, I looked up what a “200 lb guy” workout even is. Turns out, it’s not some super specific routine. It’s more about finding something that works for someone of that general size and fitness level. Which, honestly, felt kinda vague. I am not a pro, just an ordinary guy.
My Struggle Begins…
So, no magic routine. Fine. I decided to keep it simple. I went with some basics:
- Warm-up: I do some walking to warm-up at start. About 5 minutes, just to get the blood flowing. I have tried jogging in the past, but, my knees weren’t happy.
- Push-ups: I did not manage a lot. Five. Five shaky, wobbly push-ups. But hey, it’s five more than zero!
- Squats: My legs were not happy. Just some bodyweight squats. Twenty of those, with some serious breaks in between.
- Plank: I’m pretty sure I looked ridiculous. I held it for…maybe 30 seconds? My arms were shaking like crazy.
- Cool-down: More walking. Another 5 minutes. I need it to get the pain release.
The whole thing took me, like, 20 minutes, including the breaks I definitely needed. I’m not gonna lie, I was sweating. A lot. And everything hurt. In a good way? Maybe? I am too tired.
I didn’t have any fancy equipment. Just me, my living room floor, and a whole lot of willpower (which was rapidly depleting). I had make sure my water near me.
The Aftermath (and Future Plans)
Right now, I’m feeling it. My muscles are sore, but it’s a satisfying kind of sore. Like I actually did something. I have record every day of the progress. I feel it work!

The plan is to try and do this a few times a week. Maybe every other day. I’m not going to go crazy and try to do it every single day, because I know I’ll just burn out and quit. Baby steps, right?
I’m also thinking about adding in some other exercises eventually. Maybe some dumbbell stuff, if I can find some cheap ones. Or maybe some of those resistance band things. We’ll see. I’m open to suggestions, if anyone has any!
So, that’s my “200 lb guy” (ish) workout experience. It wasn’t pretty, but it happened. And that’s what counts, I think. Wish me luck for the next one!
